From dark to dawn

The night surrenders to her morning majesty

Moon and Stars fade in the birthing light

The Night once again satisfied

First shine’s splendor streams through trees

Shape and shadow dance in the soft light

From still to stir, Dreams alight

so Again begin my senses slow revive

My body once more gratified

Morning fills with sound and light

From hum to rattle, the neverending city symphony

Branches bristle as birds flit and fill the air with song,

a celebration of victory over the night

In concert with car doors and horns,

the occasional solemnity of siren,

the crashing cascade of cans,

the slamming of brakes and sliding truck doors

Reverberate, The beats hasten my rise

A blended medley of nature and man

the city once more revived

As the sun peaks Mount Diablo, clouds swirl In shades of sorbet

The sky aflame in brilliant pinks and blues,

a kaleidoscope of changing colors

The hills and horizon silhouetted in the dazzle of bright

below San Francisco Bay cold waters

shimmer and sparkle like treasure found
